Stabbed Balloon

A balloon pierced by tailor’s shears should burst, yet remains intact. The blades pierce its surface, but instead of popping, the form persists, defying logic and expectation.

These are no ordinary scissors; they are tailor’s shears, instruments of precision, made to craft something meticulously “bespoke”. Here, however, they do not shape cloth but…deliver a blow apparently designed for destruction, yet the disaster never arrives.

The piece presents an impossible reality, a contradiction that speaks of resilience in the face of destruction. In a world governed by predictable cause and effect, Stabbed Balloon challenges our understanding of fragility and strength. Is vulnerability always synonymous with weakness? Can something delicate endure even against forces destined to destroy it?

By freezing the moment of impact, this sculpture suspends fear itself, transforming the anticipated catastrophe into a silent challenge. It invites the viewer to reconsider how we perceive threats, how we respond to crises, and how, at times, survival is an act of rewriting the rules.
